But there is one thing that is healthier and easier to discard those extra pounds. It is nothing but the ancient form of exercise called yoga. It has been scientifically proven that yoga, even though being a slow process brings results that are more effective. Here are a few types of yoga postures that bring about weight loss.
Pranayama – Breathing Exercise
This is one of the yoga moves for beginners which is the easiest and just involves breathing but is highly effectual. Sit straight on a flat surface and place your right foot over your left thigh and try and keep your left foot over the right thigh. Place your hands over your knees and close your eyes. Breathe deeply and slowly. Blow your abdomen and expand your chest while you inhale. Relax the chest and abdomen while exhaling and repeat this for atleast ten times. Focus on your breath while you perform this exercise. It gives you great energy and makes sure all the internal organs function properly.
Uddiyana Bandha – The Abdominal Lock
Stand erect with your feet hip width apart. Now slightly bend your knees and with your hands on the knees turn your torso towards one side. Inhale through the nose and the exhalation must be done with force. While exhaling, constrict your abdomen to push the air out of the lungs. Now expand your ribcage and bring the navel towards the spine. Hollow your stomach and feel the abdomen lift if you are just a beginner. With this position lower your chin to the chest and maintain the position for a few seconds before releasing the abdomen and lifting the chin. This pose helps in toning, cleaning and massaging the internal organs, thereby resulting in a healthy digestion.
Paschimottanasana – Seated Forward Bend
This yoga pose is not as simple as it sounds and is considered one of the toughest types of yoga forms. To reach perfection with this pose you need to practice it regularly. Sit on a flat surface with the legs unfolded. Exhale and slowly bend forward. Without bending your knees, try touching them with the head. There may be a constriction while you perform this for the first time. At such times you can straighten up and try bending again. This may be definitely tough for a beginner and do not strain yourself to get the posture right. This may lead to complications. Bend as much as you can and as you keep doing it you will eventually able to get it right. Once you have learnt this pose, you need to hold this pose for a while and exhale while returning to a normal position.
